Purpose: The Sam M. Walton College of Business Career Development Center Closet (Career Closet) opened in August 2010 as a resource of upscale, gently used business casual and business professional attire available, free of charge, to all currently enrolled Walton College students. The Career Closet can help students with their professional dress needs whether it may be for an interview, a career fair, office visit, or on the job.

Location: Willard J. Walker Hall, room 420

Hours of Operation: The Career Closet will be open 2 hours per week during the summer: Wednesdays from 1-3pm.

The Career Closet will be open 4 hours per week during the fall semester: Tuesdays from 9-11am and Wednesdays from 1-3pm.

How does it work? Currently enrolled Walton College students can visit the Career Closet and take (for free to keep) up to 4 individual apparel items (i.e. 3 ties and 1 shirt, or 2 blouses, 1 skirt and a of pair shoes) per semester or 1 suit during an academic year. The clothes you take are yours to keep - for free.

Management/Staff: The Career Closet is staffed by Leadership Walton participants, during regular hours of operation. Volunteers receive community service experience credit within the Leadership Walton program.

Donations: Leadership Walton students will conduct a clothing drive once a semester to increase inventory for the Career Closet. The clothing drive will focus on obtaining attire that is cleaned prior to donation, is of good to excellent quality and was purchased in the last five years/or is with current fashion. Donations are tax deductible.

Thanks to a generous donation from Ray Hobbs, Walton College students can receive free alterations (up to $50 per semester) on suit items from the Career Closet. Interested students must obtain a voucher, available in the Career Closet, to be used at Peggy's Cleaners & Laundry, located at 20 North School Avenue in Fayetteville (442-8576). Peggy’s is also offering 10% off dry cleaning for Career Closet items.
