Freshman Business Learning Teams
What are the Freshman Business Learning Teams?
The FBLTs are 2 teams of 25 male and female first-year students who are engaged in the first-year curriculum of the Walton College and several co-curricular activities. In-class learning is supplemented with extracurricular activities, which involve one to two structured academic and social events per month with faculty and staff – participants in this program will, among other things, attend social functions, participate in intramural sports, join their peers in review sessions for midterms and finals, and conduct community-service activities. This involvement will not exceed six hours per month in September, October, and November. Students in the Learning Teams are also likely to get together informally to study, review, and discuss course work in the residence hall. While FLBTs are open to any non-honors freshman business student, those who plan to participate in Greek life may find it difficult to manage the time commitments of both programs.
What courses will I be taking?
Along with the computer competency requirement (WCOB 1120), FBLT students will take the following courses together
- WCOB 1111 – Freshmen Business Connections
- WCOB 1012 – Legal Environment of Business
- COMM 1313 – Public Speaking
Where will I be living?
The program will be located in Yocum Hall.
