Arkansas Bankers Research Conference

Research and Regulation Relevant to Arkansas Bankers

A one day conference hosted by Tim Yeager and the Arkansas Bankers Association

Conference Fee: $50

Friday October 9, 2009 at the Winthrop Rockefeller Center

Arkansas bankers, please join us for a one day conference hosted by Dr. Tim Yeager at the University of Arkansas in conjunction with the Arkansas Bankers Association and the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the beautiful Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Petit Jean Mountain. The conference is Friday October 9, 2009 from 9am to 3pm. The early-registration fee is $50 and includes lunch. Drive in for the day or spend the prior evening at the lodge taking in the views over a bonfire. The conference will focus on research relevant to Arkansas bankers. Understand why the potential misuse of Federal Home Loan Bank advances by the larger banks and thrifts can cost you even more in deposit insurance premiums. Learn some of the ins and outs of purchasing distressed banks directly from the FDIC. Find out why your next bank acquisition should be in Hot Springs not Palm Springs. Hear about the financial crisis from a banking economist at the Federal Reserve, and get the latest updates from the Arkansas State Bank Department.  Finally, learn the results of a major study conducted by the Department of Finance at the University of Arkansas about the characteristics of residential borrowers who are defaulting on their homes.

Key speakers include Mark Vaughan, Senior Economic Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland; Randy Dennis of DD&F consulting; Bill Emmons, Assistant Vice President and Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis; Commissioner Candace Franks from the Arkansas State Banking Department; and Tim Yeager, Arkansas Bankers Association Chair in Banking at the University of Arkansas.
