WCOB Faculty Co-Leader Needed for The India Study Abroad Program

We are looking for an energetic and dedicated WCOB faculty member to serve as an apprentice co-leader for the India Study Abroad Program.  The tentative program dates are May 21- June 14, 2013 in India. The program will also involve a prep program on Saturdays in the Spring semester (4-5 Saturdays) in Fayetteville.
The India Study Abroad Program has been running successfully for the last six years and has been co-led by Vikas Anand and Alan Ellstrand. The expectation is to groom a new leader who will serve with the program for the next four years. For the first year, the faculty co-leader will work with Vikas Anand and Alan Ellstrand, and one of the two will definitely be involved in the subsequent year. Previous study abroad programs were conducted in December/January, but from 2013 the program will be moved to the Summer. A copy of the brochure from last year is attached, and a summary of responsibilities is provided below.
Interested individuals should contact Amy Farmer or Joe Ziegler no later than Monday, September 17th. Participation in the program comes with a 7.5% summer stipend. Please feel free to contact Amy, Joe, Vikas or Alan if you have any questions.

Responsibilities of India Study Abroad Faculty
a) Work with Study Abroad Office to have the program approved. Including budget. (Documents from previous trips will help you do this).
b) Recruit students for trips (usually through presentations). The average number of students for the trip has ranged between 16 and 19 with over 40 applicants last year.
c) Work with partners in India to plan itinerary.
d) Coordinate Saturday classes during the spring semester.
While intensive, this program provides a tremendous amount of learning experience, excitement, and close contact with the students. The faculty member will receive help in setting up much of these contacts, with Alan/ Vikas also chipping in with key arrangements.
Note that: a) This program involves almost continuous presence with the students during the trip. While demanding, it also provides interaction with top business leaders, and interactions in multiple strata of Indian society. B) We do have a partner school that provides support for some of the trip. c) Over the past few years the program has developed contacts with organizations and individuals who will assist in specific arrangements. d) The trip will also involve working with a women’s welfare organization and an orphanage where the Walton College has developed a strong relationship.
