Awards & Recognition

Christy Dean and Suson Wheeler
Christy Dean, Major Contribution AwardWe would like to recognize Christy T. Dean, ISYS Department Administrative Assistant II, as the recent recipient of the Major Contribution Staff Award 2009. Within these projects and committees, she has taken on several leadership roles and is a good example of how leadership is a position, not a title. Christy’s role as leader of the departmental web team is putting a new face on the ISYS department’s website. Her peers made the following comments on her recent Peer Review: “She is someone who is an incredible asset to the Walton College and is a real leader.” “She’s the best admin asst I have seen anywhere in 20 years.” |
Suson Wheeler, 2009 Green AwardSuson Wheeler, Secretary II in the Information Systems (ISYS) Department recently received the 2009 Green Award. Suson developed procedures to reduce the amount of paper being used by faculty and staff in the ISYS department. For example, she set up duplex (2-sided) default printing throughout the department and began collecting paper that has been used on one side and encouraged people to print on the opposite side. One of her goals is to significantly reduce the amount of paper being used at the department and college level. She also encourages everyone to recycle as much as possible. All of her efforts have led to cost savings and environmentally friendly practices.

Sandeep Goyal, 2008 Graduate Assistant Teaching Award
He has been very consistent since the fall 2006 semester as a graduate teaching assistant. He often goes above and beyond the call of duty to help students with their academic careers; and in return he receives a lot of positive feedback from students such as: "This is honestly the best teacher I have ever had. He really cares about his students and has the most effective teaching style I’ve ever encountered. I wish he taught all WCOB classes. FANTASTIC.” “Great teacher. By far the best I’ve had since I’ve been here. Incredibly helpful and really cares about his students and is focused on his students doing well.” “Great teacher! I have recommended his class to all of my friends! He makes an otherwise boring class fun.”
