Amanda L. Rosen “I chose Greece because it was somewhere I had never been and unlike any other. I also like the unique opportunities the program offered such as a 4 day cruise to Santorini, a 4 day vacation trip of your choice, staying in a hotel, and having professors from the Walton College to accompany you. It also was unique in that being able to compose a business plan that will only be an asset in the future as well as learning about e-commerce. I learned a lot not only in the classroom but outside as well. In the classroom we focused on e-commerce and were required to comprise a business idea incorporating e-commerce that we thought Greece was in need of and compose a business plan including 5 years worth of financials. Outside the classroom I learned a few Greek words as well as all about the Greek culture. One of the most memorable moments in Greece was karaoking on the rooftop of the Emmantina Hotel (the sister hotel of ours) as huge group including our professors! Another most memorable moment was the 4 day trip to Egypt we took and riding camels through the African desert and seeing the Great Pyramids of Giza was incredible! I would go back tomorrow. It was the best time of my life! I learned so much, made so many great new friends, and had a whole new perspective on life coming home. The Greece program is one of the most unique study abroad programs and I would highly encourage anyone to go. It was the best thing I have done since I've been in college!” |

“I chose the Greece Study Abroad program because I was interested in a program that would cover the aspects of international business and culture in a very accessible environment. English is widely spoken across the country, which helped us not only get around to see the country more easily, but also to easily get into discussions on modern history and the real state of things when speaking with the locals. Everything was made so very accessible in that regard, and it was a great experience since it was my first time out of the US. It also helps that the Greeks are some of the most friendly people in the world!
While in Greece, for coursework I learned the finer points of writing business plans for international settings, in addition to studying and analyzing the results of a recent worldwide cross-cultural behavioral study. The program's non-classroom content aided greatly in this, as we visited several major governmental and business entities during our stay, visits which really reinforced the differences of doing in business in Greece and the greater European Union markets versus business in America.
Driving on the cliffs of Santorini's coastal road with fellow students during the island's world-famous sunset was a blast and is something I'll always remember. There's no better sight in the world, and it served as a beautiful reminder of the whole experience that I'll always carry with me.
I'd most definitely love to go back. I'm already trying to figure out when I can! The country was accessible, interesting, and every day had something special and new in store for us.
I recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to learn about business in Europe in a fun, accessible, and friendly place. Greece was awesome!”
