Amy is in her third year in the Marketing Ph.D. program at the Sam M. Walton College of Business. During her first year, she was involved with experimental research projects that looked at the effects of advertising endorsers on the interpretation of nutrition label information and, separately, issues surrounding the use and interpretation of carbon labeling in advertisements. Additionally, she has been involved in qualitative research that hopes to bring the stories of the obese to the argument encasing the current obesity situation. From this work, paper submissions were made and accepted to the Marketing and Public Policy Conference, the North American Conference of the Association for Consumer Research, and the American Marketing Association’s Winter Educator’s Conference.
Currently, Amy is preparing an article for journal submission that looks at the effects of website carrier disclosure and reference pricing on consumer perceptions and attitudes toward online merchants and product quality. She also has a working paper that explores the intersection of the marketing and legal disciplines regarding trade dress infringement. Moving forward, she will be focusing her attention on research pertaining to the impact of customer physical appearance on market-related service. Her dissertation will be an interpretive inquiry into the consumption of fashion using a symbolic interactionist perspective.
