Since 1977, John has been owner of Cole & Company, Inc. DBA Walker Brothers Dry Goods, a full-line men's clothing store. His experience in the retail industry gives him a unique perspective that benefits his students by using practical, real-life situations to teach academic concepts.

John and his wife Karen have 3 children: Alan, Richard, and Thomas. Thomas is currently a student at the Walton College of Business, while Alan and Richard, who are both recently married, are WCOB alumni. John’s hobbies include golf and fly-fishing.
