Boyer Fellowship Application
The Award
Tommy (1964 BSBA) and Sylvia Boyer (1963 BSE) established the Boyer Fellowship with the intention that it be among the most competitive and prestigious awards in the nation. The award is designed to encourage and attract outstanding Arkansas students to pursue an undergraduate education at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.

Boyer Fellowships will be awarded annually to an incoming freshman who has achieved outstanding academic performance. The recipient of the Boyer Fellowship will receive $12,500 annually with one-half distributed in the fall, and one-half distributed in the spring. The fellowship shall be renewable for up to three additional years provided the Boyer Fellow seeking renewal completes 30 hours with a minimum of a 3.50 grade-point average (cumulative) by the end of the spring semester each year.

The fellowship money may be applied toward registration fees and travel to educational programs and professional conferences, a personal computer and software, study abroad, and other expenses associated with the pursuit of a program of academic studies at the University's Fayetteville campus. The Boyer Fellow is ineligible to receive the University Scholarship, the Leadership Scholarship, or the Chancellor's Scholarship. Prizes or awards in recognition of excellence or achievement granted to the Boyer Fellow while attending the University of Arkansas will not reduce the amount of the Boyer Fellowship though the combination of awards cannot exceed the cost of attendance in accordance with federal guidelines.

Boyer Fellows are required to participate in an internship program approved by the Walton College for the purpose of gaining relevant work experience to his or her major field of study. Fellows are also strongly encouraged to study abroad, enabling them to enhance their educational and cultural experience.
