Submit a Help Task Request
This is the preferred method of requesting help. It allows us to track and assign requests to different people in the department. It also allows you to see tasks you have previously requested and the status of any non-completed tasks. Things you would submit a task for would include:
- Request help with a computer problem
- Request a Videotaping or Copying (Use this if you need to have an event videotaped or want to have a video produced)
- Request Video Editing Services (This is for editing an existing video or for compressing files to go into Powerpoint slideshows or CD-Rom).
- Request a Videoconference (Schedule a compressed videoconference to be set up in room 203 of the Reynolds Center).
To submit a task, double click on the My Helpdesk icon on your desktop. If you
do not see an icon, please call us at 5-6156 and let us know.
You should be taken to a page that looks like the one below. The first time you use it, it may ask to
install a few plugins from Altiris. Just answer Yes.

Click the yellow star in the upper right corner to create a new help task. You will be taken to a page that looks
like this:

Fill in the title of your problem (subject),
select a category that your problem falls into if you know it (for instance,
Hardware / Printer if you are having problems printing), and give a more
detailed explanation of your problem in the comments section if possible.
Click Ok at the bottom and a help request task will be sent to the Tech
Center. You should receive an email that confirms your submission.
